CarMax is looking for an experienced Salesforce software developer to join our experienced Technology team and develop systems that support progressing our customers and field users through the vehicle shipping process.

The associate will be responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of software solutions. This position will be responsible for ensuring that software development meets CarMax quality expectations.  Associates in this position must be experienced in advanced programming, design patterns, and databases. Associate is a proven team player and highly qualified to identify development tasks across the application stack. Software developers have a passion for their craft and a passion for continued education.

What you will do – Essential responsibilities

• Work with our Logistics Operations Teams as well as Field/Store Associates to discover what they need to efficiently move vehicles across locations nationwide for our online customers, buyers, and changing inventory needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues in product design, product management and systems architecture to develop experimental solutions and bring great ideas to life.
• Market your new ideas internally and evolve them according to feedback and critique within an agile environment.
• Stay on top of industry trends and best practice to continuously improve what we do and ensure our customer experience is the best it can be.

Experience Required

• 5+ years of full stack application development experience required
• 3 or more years of experience implementing Salesforce custom applications for sales, service, or business office users using the Apex language.
• Solid understanding of Salesforce custom application design including knowledge of limits, throttling, security, APIs, etc., on the Salesforce platform.
• Experience with agile development teams and practices.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Strong interpersonal skills. Proven skills and experience mentoring team members is expected.
• Self-organize and multi-task in a highly collaborative team environment is required.

Preferred Qualifications – Logistics / Transportation

• Experience with Apex and Lightning frameworks
• Experience with Salesforce Managed Packages
• Experience with an API first design paradigm and cloud based hosting
• Experience with Salesforce customization and administration
• Experience with DX preferred
• Salesforce Developer Certifications preferred
• Experience with .NET, Azure platform is a plus
